Larry is interviewing Mike Carey, an inventor who owns or shares eight ski apparel patents, is the co-owner of Seirus Innovation, a private manufacturer of ski and snowboarding gloves, face protection and other cold-weather accessories. In addition, Mike has been a college and professional football game official for over 29 years, the past 19 of which, as an NFL referee. Mike is known for his crisp, distinctive signals, clear, well-described stadium communications and swift disciplinary actions; he has ejected the most players of all the active referees in the NFL. Mike shared lessons he learned from running a very successful company, being a senior NFL referee and working with elite teams and athletes. He talked about how 'he slows down to go fast' on the field and in business; how he continuously "hones his craft" both at Seirus and on the field; and how he has created and maintained elite teams on the field and at work.
