1599_ 9/2/14 - This is part 2 of Larry's interview with David Brown, President, TechStars. Larry asked, "A group, a startup, they think they should get involved with TechStars, what should they be doing?" David replied, "They should go to www.TechStars.com/apply, that is our gateway to getting into the program. There's a comprehensive questionnaire there that allows us to get to know you pretty quickly as individuals and your idea to get to market, your product and from that process we select approximately ten companies from each of the thirteen locations to go through this 3 month program that then culminates in DemoDay. When we started back in 2008 we brought in a lot of mentors to provide advice the companies. And I think one of the things we've learned over the years is there is so much more to it than that. Although it's great to provide advice and it's great to provide investors at DemoDay to fund the companies, there is a real network effect here. There are 400 companies that have graduated, 1200 founders, 1200 or so mentors in the system, investors"...listen for more ...David's latest book is 'No Vision All Drive'...
