Buzzcar.com empowers individuals to take control of their mobility, without looking to governments or big businesses for solutions. Robin is also founder and former CEO of Zipcar, the largest car sharing company in the world, and GoLoco, an online ridesharing community. Robin explained, "We all want to get more out of what we own or have already invested in, or, conversely, to pay only for what we use. Buzzcar, takes the second most expensive asset individuals own (second to their house), that sits idle about 22 out of every 24 hours, and enables it to be shared with neighbors and friends resulting in a much more efficient use of those cars. No matter what you are selling, it has got to be put in a way that appeals to that person (company, government)'s self interest. Getting the brand absolutely right was one of the keys to Zipcar's success. We were financially smart, cool, hip, urban, fun. If you live in the city, who doesn't want to be like that?" 1502_ 2/14/14 - Jules' teacher gave her a sense of possibility outside of where she could get to, on her bike. In elementary school Jules read every biography and autobiography in her little school library. "Those lessons were really important", she said, "I really did get the sense that an ordinary person could do something extraordinary. But people in my neighborhood didn't go to college, people went to jail!" Then in 91-92 Jules was working for Keds the shoe company and Meg Whitman who ended up running eBay and running for governor of California, came in. Jules said, "she landed on my head as my boss. I ended up following her working for her directly in three different companies - I would call her a leadership role model, it mattered that she was a woman on some level, I suppose. But I worked for her for so long I definitely enjoyed and learned a lot of her techniques and how she worked with people." Jules has been through a lot and we asked what was the toughest ... We started the business in 2008 when the sky was falling and working on the 'Maker Movement' before... nobody had a name for what we were working on. A lot of the things we knew about were just invisible to the average investor. And the average investor was scared to death. We almost died three times, almost bankrupt three times, and that's no fun, to come up with that plan and imagine unwinding the business. Then you just have to do what you have to do. There was one dramatic moment that kind of crystallizes it... it all came together in a positive way but coupled with a sad event... bytes=8453123

Attack a problem in a completely unique and multi sensory way
1468_ 11/26/13 - He is a self described IT nerd and is visually impaired. He says, being a blind technical professional, he has learned how to use certain tips, tricks and technologies to overcome the visual obstacles. Michael Hess is the founder of Blind Institute of Technology (BIT) He started BIT with one mission in mind, and that is to bridge the gap between the Visually Impaired Community and the corporate environment. He's come to appreciate the proverbial blinders he's had to wear, have really helped to make it so much easier to focus on the content than his sighted peers - especially when you're requirements gathering. To highlight, Gartner has the statistics that quantify this - 80% of all IT and Network projects are either not on time, on budget or delivered at all. There is this breakdown that takes place. But in Mike's case, his projects have always met those requirements and he's realized his 'blinders' really are an asset. Based on this, Mike has developed a Team Building program and what he is doing is taking teams in technology organizations and putting them under blindfolds and having them produce tasks. His firm has developed different exercises for each sightless principle. Communication doesn't have to be complex but it has to be clear.
